When something overwhelming happens, your body activates survival responses:

WHAT HAPPENS IN A SESSION?
Before the Session:
We'll discuss your intention for the session, what you're experiencing in your body (tension, pain, numbness, anxiety), any accident, surgery or trauma history that may impact your movement. But you don't have to share details of your trauma if you don't want to because your body is wise and it knows what it needs to release

During the Session:
I will guide on through various embodiment and breathing practices. You'll do gentle body movements designed to fatigue specific muscle groups. This isn't exercise or pushing through reps like you would at the gym. This is gentle activation of your body's natural releasing shaking / tremoring mechanism.

Releasing / Nervous System Reset May Look Like:

FAQs
​Q: Will I have to talk about my trauma?
A: No. Your body knows what it needs to release without you having to verbally process the story. Some clients share. Others don't. Both are fine.
​Q: What if I can't tremor? What if nothing happens?
A: Everyone's body tremors—it's a biological mechanism. But some nervous systems are SO shut down that it takes time to wake up the tremor response. If nothing happens in the first session, we adjust and try again. It will come.
​Q: Is this safe for people with chronic pain or physical disabilities?
A: Yes! TRE is adaptable to all bodies and physical capabilities. We modify the exercises based on what YOUR body can do. I've worked with clients who have chronic pain conditions, or limited mobility.
​Q: What if it gets too intense?
A: You're in control the entire time. You can stop, slow down, or take a break. I'm trained to help you regulate if the release becomes overwhelming. We go at YOUR pace.
​Q: Can I do this if I'm currently in crisis (suicidal, severe addiction, psychosis)?
A: Please stabilize with appropriate care first (therapist, psychiatrist, rehab, hospital). Once you're stabilized, this work can support your ongoing healing.
​Q: How many sessions will I need?
A: Some clients feel relief after one session. Others need 3-6 sessions to fully discharge stored activation. It depends on how much your body is holding.
​Q: Will this trigger me or retraumatize me?
A: Not if done properly. The beauty of somatic work is that you don't need to revisit traumatic memories or stories. Your body releases what it's ready to release at a pace IT sets. I'm trained to help you regulate if things become too intense. We can always slow down or pause.
​Q: What's the difference between Somatic work / TRE and yoga/stretching?
A: Yoga and stretching work with voluntary movement and conscious stretching. TRE activates involuntary tremoring—a reflexive discharge mechanism. The shaking isn't something you "do," it's something your nervous system does when given permission
​Q: Can I do Somatic work or TRE on my own at home?
A: You can do some Somatic work at home, and TRE, eventually, yes. Your body has survival patterns you can't see—breath holding, bracing, dissociating. A practitioner witnesses these cues and teaches you to recognize them before you flood or shut down. We guide your nervous system to complete releases safely, not just activate them. Over time, you'll learn breathing practices, grounding techniques, and gentle movement you can do at home. But the witnessing piece is essential at first.
​Q: Is Somatic work or TRE safe for people with seizure disorders?
A: Generally yes, but consult your neurologist first. TRE tremoring is different from seizure activity (it's controlled by you and stops when you want it to). However, anyone with a seizure disorder should have medical clearance before starting body-based trauma work.
