WHAT IS EFT?
If you need to rewrite and untangle the patterns and belief systems that are intertwined with your emotions and your nervous system reactions EFT is the perfect multi-modal tool.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a somatic practice that combines:

Tapping on specific acupressure points (on your face, hands, and torso)

Focused awareness on the emotion or belief you want to clear

Spoken affirmations that acknowledge the problem AND offer a reframe

It works like this:
When your body is experiencing a disruption or block in energy from trauma, stress, or emotional pain, EFT inputs kinetic energy (via tapping) along those meridians while you focus on the emotional charge. This:

Reduces the emotional intensity of memories or triggers

Clears the energetic disruption

Rewires your nervous system's response

Creates space for new beliefs to take root

Think of it like this:
Your limiting beliefs are like software running in the background. EFT helps you find the code, acknowledge it, and rewrite it.

How it works neurologically:

Tapping while focusing on a stressor creates a "pattern interrupt" in your nervous system

The dual attention (emotional awareness + calming physical input) allows reprocessing without overwhelm

Creates new neural pathways (neuroplasticity) - literally rewires your brain's response

Similar mechanism to EMDR (bilateral stimulation), but uses acupressure instead of eye movement

But, EFT can be problematic if it is not tailored not just to your specific problem, but to YOU. Here's the problem with traditional positive affirmations, and even the final EFT reframe phrase: "I fully and completely love and accept myself."

Typically in EFT, this is the phrase said at the end of your script, while tapping
​
But...
If you've been through trauma, your nervous system isn't stupid. When you say that reframe, your body is braced for impact, your amygdala calls the phrase out as a lie. "NOPE," it says, "I don't believe that!"

Research shows that positive affirmations can actually backfire for people with low self-worth or trauma histories, creating more cognitive dissonance, activating your inner critic, and making you feel worse.

Why?
Because mantras are top-down (mind to body), but trauma is bottom-up (body to mind).
Your thinking brain can say "I love and accept myself" all day long, but if your nervous system is still running the program "I'm worthless," the words bounce off. Or worse, they trigger shame because part of you knows you don't believe it.

Then I'll craft tapping sequences specifically for you.

I don't use generic scripts, I write custom reframes for every client.

As an award-winning published author, I understand something most EFT practitioners don't: the exact words matter. The STORY you tell yourself matters. The LANGUGE that your nervous system will accept, versus reject, matters.

Generic affirmations backfire for trauma survivors. Research shows that when you tell yourself something your body doesn't believe (such as "I am safe," "I am worthy"), your nervous system rejects it, triggering cognitive dissonance and activating your inner critic.

That's why I don't hand you a script. I listen to YOUR story, and then I craft tapping sequences in YOUR language. These reframes acknowledge your truth and use your pacing. They don't demand a leap your nervous system can't make.

But here's where my work goes deeper than most EFT practitioners:
I don't just tap on symptoms, I see what's underneath them.

FAQs
​Q: Do I have to tap on my face in front of you? That feels awkward?
A: I get it! But most people feel silly for about 30 seconds, then forget about it once we start working.
​Q: What if I don't know WHAT I want to work on?
A: We'll start with what you're feeling RIGHT NOW and follow it to the root. Often the surface emotion (anxiety, anger) leads to a deeper belief underneath.
​Q: Can EFT really work in one session?
A: For acute issues (pre-event anxiety, specific trigger), often yes. For deeper patterns or trauma, you'll likely need multiple sessions. But even one session creates a shift.
​Q: What if I start crying or get emotional?
A: That's normal and welcomed. Emotions releasing = the tapping is working. I hold space for whatever comes up.
​Q: Can I learn to do this on my own?
A: Absolutely! I'll teach you the sequence so you can tap between sessions. But having a guide helps you find the ROOT issues you might not see on your own..
​Q: Is EFT the same as EMDR?
A: They're similar (both work with bilateral stimulation to process trauma), but EFT uses tapping on acupressure points while EMDR uses eye movements. Both are effective
