CEREMONIAL CACAO

Trauma-Informed, Heart-Opening Medicine for What Words Can't Reach

Trauma-informed cacao ceremonies are held in a trauma-informed space, using sacred, ceremonial-grade, single=sourced Chunco Cacao  to access grief, connect with ancestors, retrieve creativity, and open the heart that's been closed too long

Cacao it's been used for centuries in ceremony throughout Central and South America, Mexico, and parts of Southern North America

This Is For You If...

It's Difficult To Access Your Emotions

You can access anger or numbness, but not grief, joy, or love. and feel emotionally shut down or disconnected

from your heart.

And you need a ritual to mark the significant life transition (loss, death, divorce, identity shift, relocation)

You're Navigating A Major Change

You Understand Your Pain, But You Can't Feel It

You sense your healing needs ceremony, not just conversation or

talk therapy

You Long For

Witnessing

Because Your creativity/voice/expression has been blocked or silenced

Your Lineage Is

Calling

You want to connect with ancestors or receive guidance from your lineage

You're Ready For A Gentle, Grounding  Experience

Cacao carries the wisdom and love of the Earth, inviting us to  release what no longer serves

WHAT IS CACAO?

Cacao is a sacred plant medicine often referred to as a female spirit. She doesn't force you open. It invites. And when you're ready, she holds you while you soften

Cacao (Theobroma cacao—literally "food of the gods" has been used for over five millennia in Mesoamerican cultures as sacred medicine for heart-opening, spiritual connection, and ceremonial healing.

She carries the wisdom and love of the Earth, inviting us to open our hearts, release what no longer serves us, and receive her guidance. In ceremony with her, we honor and recognize her as a living being, rich with spirit, love, and wisdom.

This is NOT the chocolate you buy at the store.

Ceremonial-grade cacao is:

  • Minimally processed (no sugar, dairy, or additives)

  • Prepared with intention, prayer, and reverence

  • Rich in theobromine (a gentle, heart-opening compound)

  • Used in ritual context, not consumed casually

How it works:

  • Increases blood flow to the heart and brain

  • Gently opens emotional access without forcing it

  • Creates a mild euphoric, grounded, expansive state

  • Amplifies whatever intention you bring to ceremony

  • Acts as a spirit ally that supports your process

Cacao is NOT a psychedelic. You remain fully present, aware, and in control. Think of cacao as a doorway, not a flood

Trauma-Informed Cacao Ceremonies are:

  • Held within a trauma-informed, safe and nurturing context with awareness to avoid emotional flooding and nervous system dysregulation

  • A direct line / channel of communication with the plant.

  • About connection with ourselves:, our nervous systems, emotions, bodies, spirits and others (co-regulation as a group)

She is a communion with the sacred, an offering from the divine to your heart and spirit. As a heart-opener, Cacao gently guides us to

  • Shift heavy energies,

  • Sit with and soften our emotions,

  • Create space for love, clarity, healing, release, and transformation.

The Cacao used in my ceremonies is produced and harvested in the high jungle of Peru at an average altitude of 1500 M, from the La Convencion District within the Quillabamba area. I use the Chuncho variety which is only recently being harvested and produced in the high jungle of the Peruvian Andean mountains (Machu Picchu is in the high jungle too).

Chuncho is claimed to be the oldest strain from the oldest cacao trees, and is only available in Peru. It is highly esteemed by European chocolatiers for its exceptional quality and complex flavor profile. The Ministry of Agriculture declared Peruvian cacao as a "Natural Patrimony of the Nation"

Once valued more highly than gold, cultivated and revered as nourishment and as a healing elixir and a bridge to the divine, her essence is a gift that continues to connect us to the sacred.

Private cacao ceremonies offer personalized, one-on-one healing. Every element is tailored to your story.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A TRAUMA-INFORMED CACAO CEREMONY?

PRIVATE CEREMONIES

In private ceremony, we go exactly where you need to go, and at your pace, in your language, following your soul's lead.

Private cacao ceremonies are fully personalized to your healing journey.

Unlike group ceremonies, where the container holds collective energy, private ceremony allows us to go exactly where YOU need to go. At your pace, in your language, following your soul's lead. We'll work with YOUR specific issues,  creative blocks,  emotions, needs and intentions.

What Makes Private Ceremonies Different:

  • Personalized guided meditations using your imagery, story,  and your nervous system's pacing. They are made specifically for you.

  • Flexible modalities, If shamanic work is needed, I journey for you.  If somatic release arises, we work with it.  I hold the container so you can co-regulate with my grounded system and witness your emotions if they arise. If ancestors show up, we listen  to their wisdom.

  • Privacy for what can't be shared in group. Rage, shame, private losses, everything is welcome and you don't have to feel shy to express or explain.

  • Deeper processing. There are no time constraints from group dynamics; we follow what emerges and can go deep with each discovery as it is unearthed

Group cacao ceremonies create collective healing and amplified transformation.

There's a unique power in sitting in circle with others, drinking medicine together, witnessing each other's journeys, and being held by something larger than yourself.

What Makes Group Ceremonies Powerful:

  • The medicine moves stronger when shared in collective energy; what one person releases can unlock something in another

  • You're held by the circle, not just by Cacao and the facilitator. There's a container of witnesses, each holding space for your unfolding

  • You realize you're not alone when others' share their grief, rage, or joy because it's reflected back and shows you that your pain isn't shameful or isolated

  • Shared ritual creates belonging. In a world that fragments us, ceremony reconnects us to the village we've lost

  • Permission to be witnessed. Sometimes healing happens not in solitude, but in being seen by others who understand

  • A felt experience of being part of something sacred, held, and communal.

Before the Ceremony:

I'll prepare the cacao with prayer, intention, and reverence. .For Private Ceremonies we'll discuss together what theme: pattern, emotion, intentions you wish to have Cacao help you with.  In group Ceremonies, Intention work is done collectively at the beginning of the ceremony. It could be:

  • Grief that needs witnessing

  • Ancestral connection or guidance

  • Creative unblocking

  • Life transition ritual

  • Heart opening after years of shutdown

  • Shadow work or emotional release

During the Ceremony:

We'll open sacred space and  together, we will open a deep and loving connection with Cacao, then consume the cacao slowly, mindfully. It's bitter, rich, grounding. As we drink, we're inviting the medicine into our bodies.

Depending on your intention, your ceremony might include:

  • Guided meditation to meet ancestors, guides, or soul parts

  • Emotional release work allowing grief, rage, or joy to move through your body

  • Creative visioning accessing intuition for art, writing, or life direction

  • Somatic integration breathwork, movement, shaking, or sounding

  • Silence and stillness sometimes the medicine works without words

The medicine works through you. I'm not "doing" the healing. With Cacao, I'm helping create the container for your system to do what it needs. I hold space, witness, guide, and if called, perform energy or shamanic work with you if it is in alignment with your intentions and the ceremony design.

What You Might Experience:

Physically:

  • Warmth in your chest from heart opening

  • Increased heart rate that is gentle, not anxiety-inducing

  • Heightened sensory awareness as colors, sounds, sensations feel more vivid

  • Tingling, expansion, or softness in your body

  • Mild euphoria or deep calm

Emotionally:

  • Tears as grief that's been stuck moves

  • Laughter or joy you haven't accessed in years

  • Anger or rage that needs expression

  • A sense of being held by something larger than yourself

  • Connection to ancestors, guides, or your own soul

Spiritually:

  • Messages, visions, or insights

  • A felt sense of guidance or clarity

  • Connection to lineage or the unseen world

  • A softening of the armor you've been wearing

After the Ceremony:

I'll lead you through integration and grounding exercises to bring you back from the experience. We will share insights and process what emerged. We'll close sacred space with gratitude, grounding, and a final intention for how you'll carry this medicine forward. For private ceremonies and multi-ceremony / session programs, I create a plan for integrating this experience into your daily life and share it with you on an integration call.

What You'll Leave With

Many who drink ceremonial cacao describe feeling more grounded, connected to their intuition, and attuned to the energy around them.  You may feel:

  • A felt shift, not just intellectual understanding

  • Clarity on next steps in your healing, your life, your path

  • Emotional release or access you didn't have before

  • A sense of being witnessed and held

  • Softer the armor has dissolved, at least temporarily

  • Emotionally raw but relieved like you've finally cried the tears you needed to

  • Creatively unblocked ideas, words, visions flowing again

  • Connected to guidance from ancestors, your soul, or something larger

  • Tired emotional release is energy-intensive, taking rest is medicine

  • Hopeful a sense that healing is possible, that you're not alone

Some people feel immediate shifts. Others notice changes unfold over the next few days or weeks. Trust the timing.

*NOTE: Cacao can have important contraindications. If you're unsure, always consult your healthcare provider first if you: are on SSRI antidepressants, have heart conditions or high blood pressure, or are pregnant

THE SCIENCE BEHIND CACAO

Cacao isn't just chemistry, it's ceremony meeting science

Ceremonial cacao contains theobromine, a compound that increases blood flow to the heart and brain, acts as a mild stimulant (gentler than caffeine), and produces feelings of euphoria and well-being, without hallucinations or altered reality. Rich in flavonoids, cacao supports cardiovascular health and may temporarily increase heart rate in a comfortable way. Neurologically, cacao boosts serotonin, dopamine, and anandamide, the bliss molecule the same neurotransmitters targeted by antidepressants, but accessed naturally. Research on ritual and ceremony shows they activate meaning-making centers in the brain, enhance neuroplasticity, and support integration. In group settings, shared ritual creates social bonding and collective healing.

WHY WORK WITH ME

I hold ceremony as sacred, and I'm Trauma-Informed, able to hold space in a safe and loving way.

Not everyone who serves cacao understands trauma. And not every ceremony is safe for survivors. For the past several years, I have worked with Cacao in Peru and Canada with a variety of clients taking different steps on their individual journeys.

Here's what makes my cacao ceremonies different:

I've worked with trauma survivors for since 2019. I understand:

  • The difference between opening and flooding

  • When to pace, slow down, or ground

  • That silence is sacred, and clients are never pressured to share

  • That some emotions need to move somatically through shaking, crying,  sounding, or sighing

  • That not everyone is ready or even needs to "go deep" every time

I hold space for:

  • Grief that's been buried for decades

  • Rage that's never had permission to exist

  • Joy that feels "too much" or unsafe

  • Ancestors who need acknowledgment

  • Creative voices that have been silenced

And I blend modalities when needed:

If your cacao ceremony reveals:

  • A soul part that needs retrieval,  I'm shamanic and can help it come home

  • Emotions stuck in your body.  I'm somatic and can help you release them

  • An ancestral pattern arises. I'm trained in lineage work and can help free you from the patterns of the past that no longer serve you (or your ancestors)

  • A belief that needs rewiring.  I'm trained in EFT and we can reframe your believes in language that fits you

You won't leave ceremony wondering "what do I do with this now?" I'll help you integrate, ground, and take the next right step.

Cacao doesn’t fix us. She holds us. And sometimes, being held is where the healing begins.

FAQs

Q: Will I "trip" or hallucinate?

A:No. Cacao is NOT a psychedelic. You remain fully present, aware, and in control. It's gentle, grounding, and heart-opening and not reality-altering. Cacao can be sensorial guide for some however, and you may find you explore, experience, or interact with the experience through your senses

Q: What if I don't feel anything?

A: Cacao works subtly. Some people have profound emotional releases; others experience quiet clarity or insights that arrive days later. Trust your process.

Q: Is this safe if I have trauma?

A: Yes, IF the facilitator is trauma-informed. I pace ceremonies to your nervous system's capacity and will never push you beyond your window of tolerance.

Q: What should I wear/bring?

A: Comfortable clothing. Layers work best. Bring a journal, water, an open mind and heart. I provide everything else

Q: Can I do this virtually?

A: Yes! I send you ceremonial cacao beforehand (or guide you to source it locally). We connect via video, and I guide the ceremony remotely. It's surprisingly powerful.

Q: What if I cry or have big emotions?

A: That's welcome here. Cacao often unlocks what's been held. You'll be witnessed, not judged. And, you only share as much about what came up in ceremony in the discussion after as feels comfortable to you.

Q: How is this different from drinking hot chocolate?

A: Ceremonial cacao is prepared with intention, prayer, and reverence. The context, dosage, and ceremonial container create a completely different experience than casual consumption.

Q: Can I bring a friend to a private ceremony?

A: Private ceremonies are typically one-on-one,  or for couples. But I also accommodate group ceremonies as well. Email me to discuss.

Q: What's the difference between group and private ceremony?

A: Private ceremonies are fully customized to your intention and allow deeper one-on-one processing. Group ceremonies offer collective healing and the power of shared witness and are around set themes. For example: Ancestral Cacao around Dia De Los Muertos or Samhain, Releasing the Old / Stepping Into The New on Solstices, Couples Cacao on Valentine's Day and more.
